The Boer War, also called the South African War or the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899 1902), made an impact on the lives
of the people of New Zealand and the people of Hauraki.

The Treasury is one of the stops on the interesting Walter Callaway Trail which has been set up to take place over the
period of the Rugby World Cup 2011.
THE TREASURY DISPLAY will tell the stories of local people’s involvement in this war:
- Books to help you find the contingent your family member served in
- 10 panels on display one for each of the contingents, telling of their involvement in the War and showing a
map of where the action took place
- Folders containing information on each of the Hauraki servicemen and women
- Books on the wider picture of this global war
- At the completion of the Walter Callaway Trail all the panels, posters and display material will be kept at
The Treasury and will be available to be used again.
